This woman is attending addiction therapy programs so she'll feel better.Healing for the Whole Self

At Clarity Way dual diagnosis and addiction rehab, we apply the best in traditional and alternative addiction therapy programs coupled with a full assortment of recovery-enhancing activities that treat the whole person. We respect each client’s unique interests and beliefs and the pace at which they move along their recovery path.

We believe that the more invested a client is in their treatment, the better the outcome. This is why our program is designed to allow clients to customize their own treatment program. In addition to the core therapies included in our program, each client has the opportunity to request extra clinical and holistic services for an additional fee.

Available addiction therapy programs are based on clinical needs and length of stay. Some therapies may incur an additional fee.

Some of our addiction therapy programs in Hanover, PA include:

Individual Therapy

Frequent, intensive, one-on-one therapy sessions are an important part of the treatment process and our personalized approach. Clients participate in at least two individual sessions per treatment week. Individual sessions provide clients the opportunity to work more intensely on their specific issues, develop trusting therapeutic relationships to explore interpersonal challenges, and practice recovery skills they can apply in their group work. Additional individual therapy is available at an additional cost as schedules permit.

Family Involvement

Addiction is a family disease and loved ones are an important part of the treatment and recovery process. As such, we place extra emphasis on family involvement during the recovery process. Family members are invited to participate in our Family Day once a month to learn about the disease of addiction, family roles, and relapse prevention. As clinically appropriate and by request, we offer family therapy onsite or via teleconference. Our goal is to help loved ones understand the underlying issues of addiction and learn how to support one another through the treatment and recovery process.

Psychodrama

Psychodrama is an experiential therapy that medical professionals often use with individuals, families, couples, and groups of all ages with all types of challenges. Within a safe, therapeutic space, we introduce techniques such as role-playing, mirroring, future projections, and doubling. These processes help clients give voice to aspects of themselves or their lives that they may have trouble expressing or verbalizing otherwise. Issues addressed in psychodrama might include anger, resilience, forgiveness, triggers, family issues, grief, attachment, addiction, and trauma.

12 Steps and 12-Step Alternatives

We know not everyone relates to the 12 Steps. That’s why we offer both 12-Step groups as well as a non-12-Step rehab program. The later consists of alternatives to the 12 Steps such as Refuge Recovery and SMART Recovery® groups. SMART Recovery is a scientific-based, self-empowering alternative to the 12 Steps. Refuge Recovery is based on Buddhist philosophy and includes mindfulness practices.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a quick-acting, drug-free approach to reducing stress, stabilizing emotions, and improving concentration. It’s often used during or after detox to ease withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, and it can help with a wide range of mental health issues including addiction, anxiety, depression, and trauma/PTSD. The technique not only helps with bothersome symptoms but can make psychotherapy more efficient and help clients achieve their peak personal performance.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that is effective in treating substance abuse, depression, trauma, and other mental health issues. DBT focuses on helping people develop four skill sets to solve problems, improve relationships, and cope with difficult feelings and situations without turning to drugs or destructive behaviors. These skills include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. The goal is for clients to learn how to balance efforts to change with acceptance so they can achieve their goals.

Medical Care

We offer expert medical care from a team of physicians and nurses to help clients heal the physical deficiencies caused by addiction. Clients who require medical detox benefit from 24/7 care from our medical team at our drug and alcohol detox center in Hanover, PA to ensure a safe, comfortable experience.  Through our addiction therapy programs, we provide medically assisted therapy with VIVITROL®, Buprenorphine, as well as other research-backed medications as clinically appropriate to ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

Addiction Education

Counselors who are a part of our addiction therapy programs educate clients on substance abuse and chemical dependency so they understand both the underlying issues of addictive behaviors, and the biological, genetic, interpersonal, and social contributors to the disease.

Pain Management Services*

Offsite chiropractic services, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are available for individuals who require these services for an additional fee.

EMDR*

We offer trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR that help clients address deeply rooted issues surrounding trauma and past difficulties. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It uses a stimulus such as light to act on the bilateral stimulation of the eye. During an EMDR session, the client recalls and ultimately reprocesses traumatic events or emotional blocks.

HEART Therapy Group

The HEART group therapy curriculum was developed by one of our lead therapists who is a certified clinical trauma professional. HEART (Hope, Empathy, Authenticity, Resilience, and Trust) is based on the work of Dr. Brené Brown (researcher, author, and creator of a shame-resilience curriculum), Dr. Cathy Moonshine (“Accepting Competency and Achieving Proficiency With Dialectical Behavioral Therapy”) and Don Miguel Ruiz (“The Four Agreements”). Sessions focus on living a wholehearted, authentic life, working with shame and vulnerability, and using mindfulness practices. Group leaders use a combination of videos, written activities, psychodrama, art, and readings and often bring in expert speakers.

Spiritual Exploration

We help clients address the range of spiritual issues and questions that often arise in addiction and recovery. Our substance abuse treatment programs encourage spiritual connection, without promoting a specific spiritual avenue or faith. Clients incorporate spirituality in whatever way resonates most with them. This may involve mindfulness, nature, faith-based practices, creativity, or other venues that inspire a connection to something greater than oneself.

Transitional Coaching

Clients work with their primary therapist throughout treatment to prepare for a smooth transition back home. They learn to recognize potential triggers and stressful situations that might occur in their day-to-day life and create a plan to deal with these effectively. We encourage clients to practice recovery skills such as healthier thinking patterns and coping mechanisms. We also provide clients with resources for support after inpatient addiction treatment.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing meets clients where they are in the recovery process. This approach acknowledges that clients who need to make changes in their lives come into treatment at various levels of readiness to change their behavior. Some may have considered the need for change, but have not taken steps to alter behaviors that led to problems or have not yet found a resolution. Components of motivational interviewing include open-ended questions, an affirming attitude, reflective/active listening, and summarizing and reflecting back to the client what they’ve said. Therapists help clients view their life circumstances through healthier lenses and gain motivation to take the necessary steps for change. This approach is cooperative and reinforces the partnership between therapist and client.

Couples Therapy

Addiction is a disease that profoundly affects both clients and their loved ones. As part of our customized approach to treatment, couples therapy is integrated into our drug and alcohol rehab program by request of the client and as clinically appropriate. During our couples therapy program in Hanover, PA, partners learn to engage in open and honest communication, address potential relapse triggers, navigate relationship issues, as well as support each other as they recover together. Additionally, clients have the option to purchase additional sessions for an added fee.
